Quick FAQ for this tour

Is the Etna 4x4 Jeep Tour suitable for young children?

Yes, this is one of the most family-friendly tours on Etna. Children aged 4 and above are welcome, and kids aged 4-12 pay a reduced rate of €50 instead of €69. The short guided walks are easy and the jeep does the hard work of climbing to 2,850m altitude.

How high does the jeep go?

The 4x4 reaches the Pizzi Deneri viewpoint at 2,850m on Etna's north side. From there, on a clear day, you can see directly into the summit craters area. The tour also stops at the 2002 eruption craters at 1,900m.

Do I need hiking boots for the jeep tour?

Hiking boots are not strictly necessary since the walking sections are short and easy. Comfortable closed-toe shoes with good grip are sufficient. The main experience is riding in the 4x4, with brief guided walks at key stops.

What is the Hotel Le Betulle stop about?

Hotel Le Betulle was a mountain hotel on Etna's north side that was completely destroyed and buried by the powerful 2002 eruption. Today you can see the ruins emerging from the lava flow — a striking reminder of the volcano's destructive power. Your guide explains the story of that dramatic eruption.

How long are the walking sections?

The total tour is 2.5 hours, but actual walking time is minimal — just short stretches at each stop to explore the craters and viewpoints on foot. This makes it perfect for people who want to experience Etna without a demanding hike.

We had a wonderful day with Vincenzo exploring Mt Etna. We were on the north side of the volcano to ensure we had the most memorable experience. We stopped along the way at a lava tunnel and went down inside the 'cave'. From there we continued up the mountain and Vincenzo led us on a hike up through the lava flows to the site of the most recent major eruptions. Highly recommend this best part of our Sicily trip.

Amazing guide! Very kind and caring, gave us jackets and boots because we went to the top of the Etna and it was a cold day. He led us on paths where other groups didn't go and gave us some freedom that only comes in small groups that he is leading. I loved that personal touch and would recommend Vincenzo anytime with great confidence.
