Visiting Etna responsibly: practical care on the trail

What the tour price pays for

The price of my excursions pays for the guiding service and the inclusions listed on the tour page. No part is donated to a conservation project. Responsible behaviour on a walk is valuable in its own right and should not be presented as an unverified financial contribution.

Stay within permitted routes

Follow the route agreed with the guide and current restrictions. Avoid making shortcuts through vegetation or entering fragile or closed areas for a photo. A private group has no special exemption from park rules.

Leave what you find

Leave rocks, plants and other natural features where they are. Observe animals without pursuing or feeding them. Volcanic landscapes may look robust, but vegetation and small habitats can still be disturbed by footsteps and collecting.

Bring waste back

Carry packaging and other waste out with you, including small items that wind can scatter. Keep food and belongings secure during breaks. Plan a suitable personal supply of water and food rather than leaving materials along the route.

Choose a programme that fits

A route suited to the group’s walking ability and current conditions reduces pressure to improvise shortcuts or split up. Compare the four private excursions and follow their equipment requirements. Guiding and careful conduct help manage a visit without making environmental impact or volcanic risk disappear.
